Pali Delevitt
Pali Delevitt, PhD., is the Executive Director, The Global Medicine Education Foundation. In 1991 Pali designed and implemented the original curriculum in Alternative and Complementary Medicine for the University of Virginia School of Medicine. As one of the first CAM curriculums, it became a model for other subsequent programs in Medical Education. As a medical educator since 1991, Pali has envisioned and taught ongoing courses focusing on Humanism and Spirituality in Healing, as well as the history of "Women as Healers". Her work with medical students around the country led to developing local and national retreat programs exploring "Nature, Spirit, and Healing", and the value of true community building in a "Circle of Healers". Responding to the expressed needs of the medical students, as well as other health care professionals, for more exposure to spirituality and cross-cultural perspectives in healing, Global Medicine Education was founded in 2000, with "The Ecology of Healing" tm program, and recently, the "Transformative Medicine"™ professional training. Since 1987, Pali is a three-time cancer survivor who has consciously integrated CAM therapies with conventional medicine for successful recovery. She continues to serve as an advisor and patient advocate to people with life-challenging illness. (cpali@earthlink.net, (919) 967-2630), www.globalmeded.org)
