The ACCAHC Agenda
Communicate to the broader public and policymakers
- what the CAM academic community is doing, including institutional collaborations and best practices in mainstream integration
- ACCAHC's vision of integrated health care, including increased emphasis on public health, environmental health, and health promotion
Within CAM educational organizations
- improve education, research, clinical training, leadership development and academic resources at CAM academic institutions
- establish better understanding of each other's disciplines, including language, concepts, issues and challenges
- prepare students to work in healthcare teams
- conduct research and academic collaborations through the CAM academic and clinical research community, including cooperative projects that involve two or more CAM disciplines
With the National Education Dialogue
- develop and share educational resources on CAM and conventional healthcare disciplines and practices
- develop and share guidelines for collaboration across CAM and conventional healthcare educational institutions and professionals
- focus efforts on patient-centered integration, and make integration competency-based
- promote regional models of inter-institutional collaboration among educators
- explore shared values, skills and attitudes among disciplines
- create a vehicle for nationwide sharing of resources developed in various ACCAHC activities
ACCAHC PROJECTS
ACCAHC members are active in the National Education Dialogue to Advance Integrated Health Care: Creating Common Ground (NED). ACCAHC's members and staff participated from 2004-2005 as core participants and leaders in the NED dialogue planning and other projects, as well as in the NED meeting of June 2005 at Georgetown University. ACCAHC members are actively involved in NED's ongoing projects today, as leaders, participants and staff.
